Shombayheart means "like a lion or "lionheart", reflecting a love of the big cats, and the "big jungle cat" inside every Bengal housecat!

Sabrina has been fascinated by the "big cats" as long as she can remember. Throughout her childhood and early teens, she was able to spend hours observing them up close with a family friend who was an animal caretaker at the zoo.

When she first discovered the Bengal cat while surfing the web nearly fifteen years ago, she knew that these domestic cats were the answer to her lifelong dream to own a spotted cat with the grace and beauty of a leopard or jaguar. That dream became a reality when she brought home her first Bengal cat in 1999.

That first Bengal was the perfect pet for her active family. "Kimba" enjoyed playing with the children, the dog, and the other cats. Enchanted by the affectionate and playful temperament of the Bengal, and facsinated by the genetic principles controlling the different colors & patterns, Sabrina became interested in helping to further develop the beauty of this unique breed of cat. After doing more research on the breed, the responsible breeding of pedigreed cats, and consulting her veterinarian, she began a small breeding program.

Each Shombayheart kitten is given the best possible start in life. Only Bengals with correct physical structure & vigorous health that are also quality examples of the Bengal breed are allowed to become a part of the Shombayheart breeding program. Each queen is matched to a tom that will compliment her qualities to produce the very best kittens. The best foods, room to play, and lots of attention from the whole family brings out the very best in each Shombayheart kitten.
